Department of Environment and Primary Industries – radio replacement programme


In late 2010 VoTech was contracted to undertake system engineering of the DEPI project to replace its VHF radio fleet. There were three key stages of this project: Pre-tender, Tender and Contract.



Within the Pre-Tender stage the following tasks were undertaken:

  • Initiation and establishment
  • Needs and requirements definition
  • Preparation and evaluation of Expression Of Interest
  • Development of system specification
  • Preparation of RFT documentation

Within the Tender stage the following tasks were undertaken:

  • Evaluation of tender documentation
  • Conduct technical negotiation with preferred tenderer
  • Support legal and commercial negotiation with preferred tenderer

Within the Contract stage the following tasks were undertaken:

  • Project management support to contract
  • System engineering support to DEPIReview of CDRLs submitted by contractor
    • Review of preliminary design documentation
    • Test and evaluation of pre-release firmware drops
    • Preparation and/or review of engineering change requests
    • Review of Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) documentation and preparations
    • Attendance at FAT events
